Dramatic Richard Hatch Effect is the second episode of Survivor: Caicos Islands.

Episode Summary

• Immunity Challenge: Pass the Torch

After the craziness of Day 1, Anthony was happy to have found the Whitby hidden immunity idol, and felt more safe in the game despite being an outsider. The six-person cross-tribe alliance were not too happy about one of their members, Rich, leaving on Day 1. They assumed the other person who voted with him was ally Brian, but were unaware this was not the case. Instead they just recruited a new member, Eamon, this time from Whitby into the alliance, making Brian the only Balfour member in the alliance. However, the game was shaken up for everyone when the first Tribe Switch was announced. The new Whitby tribe consisted of Adam, Amy, Danny, Eamon, Jordan, Matthew and Ronnie, while new Balfour was Anthony, Conor, Brian, Jayson, JB, James and Trey. Three of the six cross-tribe members (James, Brian and Trey) ended up on NuBalfour, and pleased Anthony by teaming up with him to create a foursome with the intention of getting rid of Jayson. However, they didn't have to do that yet, as it was NuWhitby who lost the first Tribal Immunity challenge. Ronnie's initial target was Adam, a major threat in the game due to his Gen 1 reputation. He and ally from old Balfour, Amy, plotted his demise. They talked to other old Balfour member Matthew, whom they thought about voting out previously, to get him on their side. That gave them three votes, but they needed at least one more for majority, and that had to come from a Whitby member, so they went to old Whitby members Jordan and Eamon and let them both in on the plan to try to ensure they had numbers, as they thought Danny was close to Adam, and didn't want him telling Adam about the plan. However, the six person alliance paid off here, as Jordan and new member Eamon both told Adam what Ronnie was planning, and they immediately targeted Ronnie, with the three of them voting him. Danny meanwhile mis-voted for Eamon, causing a 3-3-1 surprise tie, leading to a re-vote. In the re-vote, things got complicated, as Jordan voted for Adam despite their alliance, seeking the chance to eliminate a threat. But he didn't count on Danny, who was the one person who voted Eamon, teaming with his ally Adam against Ronnie and Matthew not voting in the re-vote, causing a 2-2 tie and activating Purple Rocks for the first time in the Second Generation. Amy, Danny, Eamon, Jordan, and Matthew each picked rocks, and it was Amy who pulled the purple one, eliminating her from the game to the shock of everyone.
