Flexible Idols is a twist that featured in Survivor: Eritrea. It is a twist to Hidden Idols, where in each castaway is now able to steal an already-located idol by selecting the correct crate on a numbered grid. This brings a sense of unpredictability to how and when idols are played within the game.
When a castaway finds an idol by guessing the answer to the clues correctly, they receive a hidden immunity idol, which is then placed in one of 30 numbered crates for (not-so) safekeeping. The tribe is then informed that the idol has been found, and a new second idol is placed in the game. With each new idol clue/immunity win, each person on the tribe may now also select one of the crates to look in. If an idol has been put in the crate that someone has picked picked, they take possession of that idol from it's owner. From that point on, it is theirs to play, unless it is stolen again, since the idol will be put back into one of the crates, and the guessing continues.
